OVERVIEW OF THE FINANCIAL CONTROLLER ROLE:
This is a pivotal opportunity to become the first in-house Financial Controller at Invest West Management, in a newly created high-impact leadership role that will shape the financial future of a trusted Pacific Northwest Property Management Leader. You will lead the company’s accounting and finance operations during an exciting period of growth, driving strategic financial planning, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance and implementing operational efficiencies that support long-term success. As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll guide a talented accounting team, collaborate with executives on major business decisions, and serve the go-to authority on all things finance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FINANCIAL CONTROLLER:
- Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, tax planning, reporting, and cash flow management.
- Lead strategic financial planning, assess risks, and identify opportunities to increase profitability.
- Manage daily accounting functions—AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
- Implement and maintain robust financial policies, internal controls, and training programs.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, setting clear performance goals and fostering professional growth.
- Partner with property management teams to ensure accurate billing, expense tracking, and documentation.
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients, vendors, and auditors on financial matters.
- 10+ years in accounting/finance, with at least 7 years in leadership roles (property management/real estate experience strongly preferred).
- CPA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and property management software.
- Proven leadership skills with excellent communication and organizational abilities.
